Norwegians and Pizza

Once we settled in on Thursday afternoon we decided to take a walk and grab some food. This was a fairly daunting task, it seems like it should be easy, you find a menu that looks good, you sit down, you eat. That is totally not the case when it comes to eating in foreign countries... I first became frustrated by the names of Oslo resturants and the way they look, were we dressed appropriately, do they serve classic Norwegian cuisine or a mixture of different cuisine? Then comes the menu...the Meny, in Norwegian. Some menus have english translations under each item but for the most part it was a complete guessing game. Throw in a new kind of currency and I was completely confused. LUCKILY we found two great places to eat today and thank God because eating some bad food is not the best way to start out a trip.

For lunch I ended up with a gigantic baguette with mmm mmm good salmon, hard boiled eggs, butter, lettuce and an olive, just one little olive tucked away in the middle. I ate the whole thing, it was delish...I also had a great little cup of espresso. YUM!

At 10pm we decided to go out in the cold (hey, 40 degrees IS cold) to find ourselves some dinner. Apparently Norwegians are totally in to Pizza! So we settled in at Dolly Dimples Pizza Pizza! Two thin crust yummy yummy pizza's, a glass of wine, a glass of beer and EIGHTY dollars later we were all set to high tail it back to the Hotel and call it a night.

So far so good.
